My name is Kumi, the founder of Learning Creation and the designer of Teaching Tees™. I am the mother of two children, an 9-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. I was a medical research scientist with a Ph.D. in neuroscience (the study of the brain and the nervous system), but when my first child came along, I decided that my responsibility was now at home with my baby, so I took my maternity leave from my work indefinitely.
Now that my kids started school, I work part-time as a research scientist in a medical research laboratory. Many people said that I had "sacrificed" my career, but I don't look at it that way. In fact, if I had to do this all over again, I'd do exactly the same...take time off from my work to see my children grow, and help them grow by being there for them. Sure, being a full-time mom can be quite stressful but I think it's definitely worth it, because I learned (and am still learning) a lot from my children everyday.
When my husband and I became parents, we developed an interest in early childhood education. We created Teaching Tees™ after we noticed that our children showed great interest in the images that were printed on our shirts. They often pointed and asked us about the printed letters and characters. One of their favorite activities was to learn the letters on our shirts. Obviously, the prints on regular shirts are not perfect for this activity because they usually don't include the whole alphabet. They are also limited in colors and objects, and not always "kid friendly". So we decided to design T-shirt graphics that are fun, visually stimulating and educational for young children, but not too embarrassing for parents to wear.
When we created Teaching Tees™, we wanted to focus on QUALITY. First, we chose high-quality 100% cotton T-shirts to print fun graphics on. Each graphic was designed by me, approved by our children, and printed by screen printers with more than 15 years of experience. Our shirts also have won the Dr. Toy Smart Play/Smart Toy Product of Excellence Award! We are a registered small business. We would like to take advantage of being a small operation and try to accomodate our customers' individual needs. Our Payment, Shipping and Return Policies
Please note that we accept payments via PayPal. Once you click on an "Add Item to Cart" button in our website, you will be transferred to PayPal's secure Shopping Cart page. Major credit cards and money orders are accepted. You will be notified via e-mail when your order is received.
Your order will be shipped via USPS Standard Mail if your purchase is lower than $15, and via USPS Priority Mail if your purchase is over $15. Your order will usually be shipped within 24 hours after your payment has been processed. You will be notified by e-mail when the shipping is made. Shipping charges start from $3.00. North Dakota residents will be subjected to 6.75% state taxes.
We guarantee the quality of our Teaching Tees™, but if you are not satisfied with the product you received for some reason, we will accept returns if:
- the buyer notifies his/her intention to return the product to Learning Creations (contact@teaching-tees.com) via e-mail prior to the return shipment,
- the product has not been washed, damaged or soiled,
- the product has not been worn any more than fitting, and
- the product is still in its original package
The return shipping cost will be the buyer's responsibility. As soon as the product is returned, we will refund the amount of the returned product (total charge minus shipping cost).
